I feel so guilty
by Leander inthese past few weeks i've spent a lot of time trying to decide how i want to proceed with the rest of my life.
one of my first decisions to carry out is to break free from the wts.
even though i've been a life long witness i feel no guilt or hesistation in leaving the only religion i've ever known.

Leander-
I am in almost the exact same situation as you (except I'm 32 years old and I have no desire to smoke blunts).
When I read some of your posts I have to stop and ponder if it was actually I that made the post!
You can e-mail me if you'd like.

CO talk
by Fatal Error inwe had our second co talk yesterday, the topic of which was loyalty, thinly veiled as to one another, but dripping with threats toward those who might go against the society.. after the usual drivel about the society being god's organisation, and appreciating their junk food (as an aside, has anyone actually vomitted up any of this "food"??
just wondering...), i was rudely dragged out of my slumber by the co's harsh declaration that we should shun all those who slipped away from the thruth, as they inactivity is a bad influence.
he went on to heap the blame on them, "if they feel this way, then they should expect their due", "they bring shunning onto themselves" etc.... has it always been this way?

Hello, Matty.
I agree with everything you said (good cop/bad cop).
I definitely believe they are taking a harder approach now vs. the 90's.
The guilt tactics are incredibleCheck out some highlights from my last CO visit back in January...

Hi, TOH...
I'm still active and my sister was DA'd because she got married in a church. She never wrote a letter or faced a Judicial Committee. They simply did it based upon her actions. I never completely shunned her. We recently have become more close and she even is a member here at JW.com.
I wish they would try to tell me to not speak to my sister. There would be some scrappin' going on between me and the elders.
Hang in there, Hippie. -

Hi, Fatal E...
Please ask your CO about the official JW belief on shunning.
Taken from http://www.jw-media.org/beliefs/beliefsfaq.htm :
Do you shun former members?
Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned. In compliance with the Scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions. Disfellowshipping does not sever family ties. Disfellowshipped members may continue to attend religious services, and if they wish, they may receive pastoral visits. They are always welcome to return to the faith.—1 Corinthians 5:11-13. -

I told my dad this morning.........
by lv4fer inhe asked if i was going to the circuit assembly this weekend.
he asked why.
i just said after a long pause, dad it's not the truth (you have to understand that i'm the one who preached to this man and got him in the truth) the conversation lasted about 5 minutes with him saying well who else teaches the right thing, you have to understand, jehovah has to have an organization.

lv4fer-
You are an encouragement to me.
Keep your ground.
Hey, and you never know...If you are the one who aided Pops into the JW religion, you just may be the one who can aid him out.
